hey all.
i've been a bum about posting, mostly because of:
- boredom
- too much to do

- traveling and spending time away from the computer
- spending too much time online and not feeling like writing my life story for all to read

- not wanting to post about shitty things
- doing great things and not wanting to take the time away from fun to talk about it.

my 5 month stint in chile is over and i'm back in pr. chile was adventurous and mostly-worthwhile, but i'm really glad to be back home. santiago sucked a bunch, but i got to travel around the country and a little bit to bolivia and argentina, which was really great. on my first month down there, i saw penguins, sea lions and albatrosses, LOTS of rabbits, ostriches, glaciers, the end of the world. on another major trip, i saw flamingos, llamas, more llamas, more rabbits, some other jackal-kinda-rabbit with a long tail, coca leaves, mountains, volcanoes, gigantic SALT plains and other stuff.

i left Santiago just over a month ago, leaving behind about two new friends (chileans and kinda cold and somewhat unfriendly), super cheap alchohol and a foggy, cold city.

i got to pr and came back to family, friends, dancing, medalla light ©, beach beach and more beach. my days consist mostly of waking up, thinking what beach or pool or random day trip i´m going to take, eating fun stuff, drinking, and sometimes yoga.

classes start on monday and it's going to be a huge reality check. i´m not taking a full load of classes this year, because i'm planning on getting a law-student type of job, and i'd like to have some time to breathe and do yoga and other extracurricular activities.

oh, and i got a really fun haircut the week i got back from pr, it's very exciting. i'll see when i can post some pics.
toodles!

so i'm home for thanksgiving.
and last night, out of nowhere, i decided to announce to my parents that i had something to tell them, and showed them my tattoo.

my stepfather was all chill, as is to be expected.

my mother threw her hands up in the air, stompped about and told me she couldn't believe it. then she said something to the point of "that's mutilation! you marked yourself! do you know who else was marked? slaves." she thinks it's ugly. i haven't seen her since, she's at work today.
my stepfather said that she's really mad.
i think she thinks she did something wrong, like i'm all insane in the membrane and it's her fault.

doh!

so, joel's post several weeks ago about justin timberlake's "sexy back" song kind of made me laugh, even though at the time i'd never heard it.
then i realized that it's the scary song wiht the fun beat that sounds like someone is speaking out of a voice box.

and tonight i just saw the video... what's going on there? what's with the:
- bomb
- sex on glass--is it the new sexy thing? sounds kind of "walking on, walking on broken glass"
- creepy stalking-turned-lovemaking?

i think justin has done a good job bringing the "sexy back", i just wish it weren't so confusing.

this is what´s on my mind nowdays: study abroad trips.

Option 1: go abroad next semester
+ still graduate in 3 years
-- set myself up for a really difficult third year
+- the programs are chile, argentina (maybe) and belgium

Option 2: Go to Spain next year
- i'd be on total limbo until about april or may, because they require a higher GPA and i'd have to shoot for super grades this semester and next.
+- it's a full-year program
+ i'd get my JD (equivalent) in spain as well
- it would add on another year (4 total years in law school)
+ hot spaniards

Option 3: go to chile, argentina or belgium for a semester NEXT year
- would graduate in 4 years
+ but would probably have a least one easy, possibly 2 semesters, where i'd only be doing about 5-8 credits, and could work simultaneously

hi friends. i haven´t posted in over a month, it´s been a long time. since then, i think i went to ct/dc/nyc, took my summer class, interned at the legal aid clinic and started the yoga teacher training. it´s great, but altogether, these things take up all my time. it´s tiring, but in a good way. as of tomorrow, i think i´ll be done with work and school, meaning that all i have left to do for the summer is to hang out, go to the beach and do a lot of yoga.

... speaking of beach and yoga! here are some pics from last night, where a beach experience turned into an inpromtu yoga creativity fest. woo!

i'll be done with my first year of law school about 3 pm tomorrow (today, really, weds).
friday i go to ct.
monday i go to nyc.
tuesday through friday i'll be in dc. my only set plan is to go to yoga thursday at 7 am. other than that, i'm up for hanging out, drinking beers, walking around town, and eating cheap and delicious food (LUNCH at heritage india? anyone? whenever). i've got my heart set on seeing people that read this (and a few others), and possibly seeing the old work people for a quick happy hour or lunch. let's make plans so i don't run around all crazy and not get to see people. i already anticipate getting teary-eyed seeing people (and walking past my old apartment building... sigh).

nothing else is new with me. i got a super-80s haircut (way more than the mulletina), a bunch of my pals are leaving school (moving back to their motherland, dropping out, graduating), my apartment is a big fat mess and i've got a bunch of errands to run regarding my car when i get back. i come back from my nor'eastern tour and go right into last rendez-vous with the internationals and then start up my summer work thing and yoga training. hoorah.

i just went to my first first-year-class law school party and didn´t have a bad time (i went to a horrendous law school partay in august. ugh).
so maybe all the people in my class aren't assholes.

also, nothing beats being kinda drunk and having a pizza empanada. yum.

ps- yea, most of them are still assholes. including mr. trying-to-dance-all-up-in-my-crotch guy. ugh.

pps- golden girls on lifetime!

i have to go to the bathroom but there is a menacing 7 inch lizard in there that's freaking me out. they don't usually go anywhere in the house other than the garage! (i'm at my grandparents, where lizards abound).

1. thanks to my good judgement, i was able to ignore the nagging voice in my head that was telling me to stay in the Most Horrendous Class Ever with the Most Horrible Professor EVER. good for me. i still have four classes.

2. i got all of my grades but one back. an A in constitutional and Bs in everything else. wooo!!!

3. HELP. I realized my social security number is out due to a club I´m in (long story)... and my address... what do I need to do to put the feds (or whomever) on alert? WHAT DO I DO?! Do i just call Equifax and whoever the other credit agencies are and tell them to be on alert?

i had the weirdest dream last night, it was really disturbing. the details aren't really important, but suffice it to say that i've done yoga every day this week except for friday and i think my body and mind are going nuts.

then today in class i burst out crying for no reason (though i think the creepy dream feeling was coming back).

all in all, either i'm freakishly hormonal or the yoga et al are totally hitting something in me. it's kind of bizzare.

i've been meaning to do this for a while but hadn't gotten around to it… so in true puerto rican fashion, i'm going to do a very late "happy new year" post :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
i was thinking about this year and how totally life-changing it's been for me… so here are some stuff about this past year.

JANUARY- still at my horriffic job at the union, hating every minute of it. ugh. january also brought with it a lot of drunken afternoons at l'enfant café and, as an effect of a drunken tuesday, an impromptu trip to pareee. ooh la la! i'm still dying to get back there… a day after i got back from paris, i was offered the job at the best work place ever , NPR.

FEBRUARY- yay, life is good. hooray NPR. rip sherpa muffin, boo. friends are starting to get sick of me talking about how much i heart yoga.

MARCH- still loving NPR. spring time came and i started biking a whole lot more (including biking to work). sele came to visit and we also got drunk at l'enfant and made fun of old buddies. ha! saw the gates project in central park and was inspired (not sure for what, but inspired… for something…) started getting denials to law schools.

APRIL- the month started off with a trip to connecticut, to the first wedding of a high school friend. WHOA. that was totally bizarre, but good. (btw, she's pregnant now and giving birth in about a month). started getting acceptances to law schools. my parents, cousin and her kids came to visit for an extra long weekend. family craziness included drinking on my stoop a whole bunch and my little cousin saying inappropriate things to my neighbors.

MAY- went to nyc to visit carlitoes and do the 5 borough bike ride. probably one of the best days i've had in a really, really long time. i recommend to everyone with any kind of endurance to do this ride. decided i was going to UPR law. whoa. went to cucaracha's wedding in Nashville, where Justin and i sneaked alcohol in my purse and spiked our drinks in the bathroom. caught the mother of the bride not liking my booby dress. southern Baptist weddings are funny! went to mexico with smriti, another impromtu trip. viva mexico!

JUNE- chaos and travel! went to atlanta, where i probably drank too much and said lots of stupid thigns, but thankfully my pals are good pals. emotion-filled vacation. also had quality bonding time with my pals in st. michael's, where we star gazed on dock on the river. packed up my apartment. sold my bike. ended my stint at NPR. had the most fabulous going away party at jared's (bastard hasn't responded to any of my emails since) and hung out with a bunch of people i've been horrible about staying in touch with. stayed at grace's for two days and nearly drove her insane, but in a good way. took the bus to nyc and stayed with carl. got teary eyed on my flight to pr.

JULY- turned the big 2-5. EEK. lived with both my parents in a studio apartment for 3 weeks without jumping off the balcony. got a car and realized i hate driving. lucy came to visit and we hung out, hoorah. discovered a yoga studio here that i didn't like but now love. gettin' ready to start law school.

AUGUST- started law school. it was really hot in pr, but at least i got to go to the beach a whole bunch. caught up with an old pal from dc who i thought wouldn't really call me, but surprisingly we've stayed pretty good friends.

SEPTEMBER- went with law school kids to beach-town for the weekend and discovered they're all kind of nuts, but fun. got into my first car "accident." new car looking fugly. hung out with chris on his drunken vacation to pr.

OCTOBER- kari came to visit and i realized that we're not really compatible to stay in an apartment a whole weekend, especially when it's raining like the sky is falling down and she had high hopes of going to the beach. no matter how much we bicker, i totally love that girl (in the platonic way, duh).

NOVEMBER- carl came to visit and we re-discovered via appia's pizza. went home for thanksgiving, where i started worrying about finals and got to hang out with the fam. ate way to much.

DECEMBER- exams made me smoke too much. lack of time for yoga made me cranky. discovered a new found love of tomato soup and vegetarian food (sometimes). got a bike for xmas that i've used twice so far. xmas vacation came and i got to relax, even when my parents were around.

so true!

ps- it´s my secret dream to write self-help books. thus my dream of the power to be invisible... so i could go around whispering sweet nothings to people and tell them that their fly is down or that they´re speeding and there´s an upcoming cop and other pertinent information.

You Are Likely an Only Child

At your darkest moments, you feel frustrated.
At work and school, you do best when you're organizing.
When you love someone, you tend to worry about them.

In friendship, you are emotional and sympathetic.
Your ideal careers are: radio announcer, finance, teaching, ministry, and management.
You will leave your mark on the world with organizational leadership, maybe as the author of self-help books.
